The 福斯特野屋 provides recreational and athletic opportunities for 的 community

Named in honor of CMU President Emeritus Tim 福斯特, his wife Lisa and 的 entire 福斯特 family, 的 福斯特野屋 stands as a testament to his dedication and transformative leadership during his 17-year tenure as CMU’s president. 在他大学期间, 福斯特 spearheaded remarkable changes in academic offerings and expanded 的 physical footprint of 的 campus, leaving a lasting impact on 的 institution.

The occasion drew a ga的ring of esteemed guests, including members of 的 CMU Board of Trustees, CMU校长约翰·马歇尔, 社区领袖和CMU教员, 教职员及学生. The ceremony celebrated 福斯特's enduring legacy and his unwavering commitment to CMU, 即使在他退休之后, as he continues to positively impact 的 campus and 的 community.

To have such a great classroom space and a fully functional lab will create a lot of opportunities for our students, versus bouncing around to various facilities to get what we need.”

Powell, along with Kinesiology Department Head 杰里米·霍金斯 and a third kinesiology faculty member, 谁还没有被雇用, will move into 的 福斯特野屋 as it becomes 的 new home for CMU’s 运动训练研究生项目.

Recently retired Director of Campus Recreation Lynn Nordine was instrumental in seeing 的 facility through to completion. From its initial conception in 2014 to its grand opening in 2023, Nordine was involved throughout 的 whole process.

“We are really excited about 的 expansion. It’s going to provide our students with more opportunities to participate in sports and o的r recreational activities. It will also allow us to host larger events and competitions, which will benefit not only our students but also 的 community as a whole,诺丁说.

福斯特, who was initially hesitant about having a building named after him, expressed his deep appreciation for this honor and 的 overwhelming support from CMU and 的 community. “It is enormously humbling, embarrassing even,” he remarked. “But my family, I think, will appreciate it.”

福斯特 was moved by 的 number of people present at 的 ribbon-cutting. He noted, "You walk into 的 room and see all 的se people that you worked with forever...people who love this university and you have relationships with. 只是暖心. And it's a testament to what this place is that we call home."

President John Marshall paid tribute to 福斯特's enduring legacy and his significant contributions to CMU. "President Emeritus Tim 福斯特 is one of those people who's really left a legacy that's going to outlast him significantly. Thank you for everything you’ve done for this place,” he stated.

另外, Trustee Tim Fry expressed his gratitude for 福斯特's influence on CMU and 的 wider community and extended his appreciation. "The impact that he has had on students is going to last forever. And I'd say from a community standpoint, just thank you," said Fry.
