Our faculty bring a balanced blend of the terminal degree of PhD 和 extensive practical field experience to the classroom. This combination of academic rigor 和 the field application of criminal justice principles 和 practices gives our graduates strong academic degrees. Our degrees make our graduates highly marketable in numerous criminal justice career fields in Colorado 和 across the United States. Opportunities abound for research in the discipline 和 internships with various criminal justice agencies. Students may conduct 和 publish research in partnership with faculty members 和 present 卡内基梅隆大学’s annual 学生展示.

pp电子极速糖果’s (CMU) 刑事司法 program offers a Master of Arts in 刑事司法 Leadership 和 Policy (MACJLP) 还有两个学士学位课程 文学士(BA)刑事司法Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in 刑事司法 with POST Academy. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree track is the traditional degree track that prepares students for graduate studies, 法学院, 警察的职业生涯, 法院, 和修正 that may or may not require a POST certification. Students in the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree track will attend the Western Colorado Peace Officers Academy (WCPOA) in their final semester 和 graduate with their bachelor’s degree in 刑事司法 和 state of Colorado POST certification simultaneously.

The mission of the FIRS is to learn about 和 teach the decomposition of human remains in the western Colorado environment. The FIRS is one of only nine such facilities in the United States 和 the only one at altitude or with an arid climate. Additionally, CMU partners with the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy (CLETA). CLETA’s facility includes a state-of-the-art pursuit driving track 和 a simulated residential city block. Students in the BAS program 和 POST Academy learn critical skills at this facility - the only one of its kind in Colorado.

The criminal justice program also allows students to learn 和 network outside the classroom through its 国家刑事司法荣誉协会 chapter 和 two student-led 俱乐部.

  1. Critique criminal justice policies 和 practices based upon advanced knowledge of criminological theory 和 recommend new practices or policies as needed.

  3. Recommend 和 implement advanced 领导 theories 和 skills in 刑事司法 program 和 policy development 和 administration.
  4. Design 和 conduct a capstone project using qualitative 和/or quantitative research methods related to evidence-based practices, 领导, or administration of criminal justice practices 和 policies.
